If you love ice skating and are in or planning to visit the Boston area this weekend, get ready to get excited.
The 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships arrive in Boston from January 5 – 12. Hosted by the Skating Club of Boston, the event features the nation’s best figure skaters competing in the last qualifying competition before the selection of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team in Sochi.
Skaters will compete in men’s and ladies’ singles, pairs, and ice dance and these will be divided into senior, junior, novice, intermediate and juvenile levels. Featured skaters include Max Aaron, Gracie Gold, Maia and Alex Shibutani and Yasmin Siraj.
All of the senior-level events (and some junior-level events) will take place at the TD Garden. Other venues will include the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Skating Club of Boston.
If you are planning on making the trek to Beantown for the event, make sure to check out the 2014 Smucker’s Skating Spectacular (also commonly called the Exhibition of Champions), which happens on Sunday, Jan. 12. This exhibition features the winners from the championship competitions the week before performing creative programs without the stress of a panel of judges.
A full schedule of events can be found here. Information is also available about how to get tickets for individual events, as well as an “all-event ticket,” a package that includes 17 senior events and junior free skate events, as well as admission to practice sessions at the TD Garden, BCEC, and the Skating Club of Boston (this ticket does not include admission to the Smucker’s Skating Spectacular – you will need to buy a ticket to this event separately).
