The 24th Chicago Humanities Festival attempts to answer some of the deepest questions that we ask ourselves.
The questions that are asked and discussed include:
- What makes us human?
- How do we make sense of life on this planet?
- What is the meaning of life?
- What happens after death?
While the all-encompassing queries usually just prompt more questions, the Chicago Humanities Festival features experts who present their research, life experience and creative discoveries and this results in one of the best ways to answer what cannot be answered. The 2013 iteration of the Festival explores the “animal” theme through a study of arts, culture, science and the humanities. This year’s presenters include Sherman Alexie, David Axelrod, Rick Bayless, Katherine Boo, Anne Carson, Junot Diaz, Atul Gawande, Temple Grandin, Bill T. Jones, Susan Orlean, Neil Shubin, Lemony Snicket, Donna Tartt and others.
The event kicks off on Nov 2. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the CHF Box Office at 312-494-9509.
