One man’s junk is another man’s treasure as they say, and nowhere this could be truer than at Long Beach Antique Market (4901 E Conant Street , Long Beach CA) in Los Angeles. Voted one of the best flea markets in the country and with lots of treasures to be found, the once-per-month event features more than 800 vendors sprawled over 20 acres.
From costume jewelry to vintage clothes, collectable toys, cookware, movie memorabilia, first edition books and furniture – there is something for everyone among the hundreds stalls of the market. You may even spot a celebrity – celebrity bargain hunters that have been spotted here include Pamela Anderson, Dita Von Teese and Alice Cooper!
The key to bargain hunting is to stay focused and don’t be afraid to haggle, the vendors are used to a bit of friendly haggling and you may walk away with a bargain. Keep your energy up by being sure to take a pit stop for a beer and jalapeño and cheese stuffed pretzel at the food stand. Lastly think outside the box – turn a door into a cork board, an old TV into a dog house, a suitcase into a table and put all those Pinterest ideas into practice with some upcycling and repurposing!
Long Beach Antique Market is held rain or shine, on the third Saturday of each month (next one is November 17th). Entrance is $6 after 6.30am and $12 before – doors open at 5am and close at 2pm.
