Did the recent Coachella line-up announcement featuring Joe Biden not really do it for you? Do you feel like experiencing an outdoor music festival now rather than waiting for the summer? Don’t worry, I got you.
Toronto hosts tons of winter music festivals, many of which you haven’t heard about and here’s a quick rundown of my top picks.
1. Brrrrr! – February 1 & 2 – Echo Beach
There is a great line-up planned for this first-ever electro-fest near Ontario Place. I especially like the headliners, as Moby and Dubfire will both perform.

2. Winterfolk – February 14-17 – Delta Chelsea Hotel
This music showcase might be best suited for an older-audience as its focus is on jazz and the blues. For more information, check out winterfolk.com.
3. Afrofest – February 1, 8, 15 & 22 – Gladstone Hotel
When planning a Weekendtrip, what’s the first word you look for? If you’re like me, it’s free! Afrofest consists of a few free Friday night shows in honor of Black History month. These are in advance of the official Afrofest which will take place on July 6 and July 7 from Woodbine Park. Free Friday performers will include Niacko Backo and Donne Roberts.
