This weekend may not be a long weekend in Quebec (as it is for those of us in Ontario) – but it’s still a great weekend for anyone visiting the city. And if you DO have a long weekend this weekend – why not head to Montreal and check out one of these events?
1. Osheaga Music Festival: this may be the main reason for a throng of visitors to the city this weekend. Happening August 2-4, 2013 Osheaga is known as a major music festival – and this year it lives up to the hype. Featuring more artists than you can count, and taking place at in the heart of the city at Parc Jean Drapeau – this music festival is a rite of passage for any music fan.
2. The Rogers Cup Tennis Tournament: This year the men are in town once again, while the Women’s Rogers Cup takes place in Toronto. Watch as the top 40 tennis players in the world, including Milos Raonic, battle it out on the court to take the top title. Taking place August 2-11.
3. There are several festivals celebrating the arts this weekend: The Lanaudière Festival is the largest classical music festival in Canada – and there are a number of meal-and-concert packages featuring local restaurants in Joliette (about 45 minutes from Montreal – a little more with Friday traffic). Or check out the Orford Arts Festival about an hour and 15 minutes from Montreal. And there’s the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur, in Saint-Sauveur, also about 45 minutes away from the city.
