Looking for things to do in Detroit? A furry-friendly family event takes place this weekend and is the perfect place to take the kids.

If you are thinking about adding a new member to your family, aren’t ready for kids just yet and love animals, Detroit’s Novi Pet Expo is just the place for you this weekend.

The Novi Pet Expo takes place at the Suburban Collection Showplace (46100 Grand River Ave., Novi MI), runs until tomorrow night and promises a ton of fun for the whole family (including the pets you already have who are welcomed to join you at the event).

Designed to educate families about the responsibilities of pet adoption and ownership, it includes exhibits focused on birds, cats, dogs, fish and reptiles. A special Kids World area has been constructed and there are plenty of activities for the little ones to take part in, including a classic K-9 show, Clifford the Morgan Horse, a show by “That Guy With The Birds” John Lege, a cat show and free pony rides.

The 2013 Novi Pet Expo runs today until 8 p.m. and is open tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and admission is free for kids under age 5. Parking in the center’s lot is $5.
