If you are thinking about doing some home renovations, you might want to start in Philadelphia.

The “City of Brotherly Love” shows your house some affection with “The Suburban Home & Garden Show” taking place at The Greater Philadelphia EXPO Center at Oaks (100 Station Avenue, Oaks PA), the largest home and garden show in Pennsylvania. Over 300 local companies ranging from contractors to toilet manufacturers will be available for attendees to consult with. It truly has everything… including the kitchen sink!

Some of the features include:

- Weisser Homes’ model house built inside the EXPO Center itself to highlight affordable innovations in housing

- 12 gardens being displayed along with the gardeners who created them to offer advice on how to keep your tulips in tip-top condition

- Mark McGrath (host of WHYY’s You Bet Your Garden leading a seminar on chemical-free gardening

- Camp For Kids, a special area for children including an arcade, balloons and marionette shows daily; think of it as an entertaining babysitter while you work on improving your living space.

The Suburban Home & Garden Show offers free admission on Thursday February 21 (12 p.m. – 8 p.m.) For us Weekendtrippers though, it’s only $10 on Friday February 22 (12 p.m. – 8 p.m.), Saturday February 23 (11 a.m. – 8 p.m.) and Sunday February 24 (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.).
