Oh say, can you sing?
Even if you’re not a fan of American Major League Soccer, it’s worth the 30-minute drive to Foxborough. On March 19, 2013, you’ll be able to sneak a peek at the New England Revolution’s first-ever National Anthem Auditions. You can get a chance to sing the Star Spangled Banner and pump up the crowd, or you can just enjoy some free patriotic entertainment.
Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney and Bon Jovi will all be performing in summer 2013 at Gillette Stadium, where the New England Revolution plays, not to mention the New England Patriots NFL team. The soccer team is often called The Revs, and their games are televised, so, if you’re a performer, it’s an exciting opportunity to sing for some 15,000 fans per game.
The team’s management issued a statement noting that “the Revolution is looking for talented soloists, groups, instrumentalists and other unique musicians to perform the anthem for the team’s 2013 home games at Gillette Stadium.”
The March 19, 2013 event is considered the final auditions. It includes a series of performers culled from an ongoing round of auditions. If you’re a performer, and want to compete, you have until March 15, 2013 to send an audition tape in the form of an mp3, mp4 or a YouTube video link. The submission should be made to DavidC@revolutionsoccer.net, using the subject: National Anthem Submission. If you want to submit an audition tape, ensure that you include your name, phone number, email, and performance experience.
The final audition event will be held at the Landsdowne Pub on March 19, 2013 at 6 p.m. This is a fantastic Irish pub, where you’ll find some tasty treats and delicious beers on tap. As you know, Lansdowne Street has some great pubs and atmosphere to boot.
According to the team’s management, “all performers will be asked to sing a cappella and without note cards.” They also note that “both Mix 104.1 and 103.3 AMP Radio will be on hand during the live auditions, with on-air personalities serving as judges and emcees.”
The Revs have made it the MLS cup on at least four occasions, so they’re a pretty solid team. If you’re interested in checking out a game or two, season tickets for the 2013 New England Revolution season start at $333 for 18-game packages. Four- and six-game plans start at $90 for lower bowl tickets. Call 1-877-GET-REVS or visit http://revolutionsoccer.… for more information about these plans or any other ticket option.
