Hudson Opera House Movable Feast

Did you get an A in art? Do you love antiquing?

How does a weekend trip to Hudson in upstate New York sound? There has been a lot of buzz around Hudson; the city has undergone a transformation in recent years, moving away from its industrial roots to now becoming a hotspot city for both art creators and art lovers.

There are 40 antique shops in town and they are complimented by plenty of galleries and theaters as well. Locals never seem to tire of walking up and down Warren Street where there are exhibits at the Limner Gallery and contemporary art at the Nicole Fiacco gallery as well.

The Hudson Opera House (327 Warren Street, Hudson NY) features various readings and workshops for those who want to participate during their getaway.

Described as one of the best architectural cities in the U.S., just a walk around Hudson will give you a great view of the Federal and Queen Anne Buildings.

Where to eat on your Weekendtrip?

A weekend trip just isn’t the same if the locals don’t serve up delicious food. Choose between a chic or casual dinner at any of the various restaurants and eateries in town. DA/BA (225 Warren Street, Hudson NY) is particularly notable because it can slap you with a burger just as easily as it can serve you seared scallops or potato latkes.

Where to stay after the event?

If you’re wondering where to stay, the only concern should be which bed and breakfast to try since they are in such abundance.

My first choice would be the Mount Merino Manor which sits on 100 acres near the Olana State Historic Site. There’s also the Country Squire B & B (251 Allen Street, Hudson NY), and The Inn at Hudson (317 Allen Street, Hudson NY).
