Augmented Reality - Salad Touch Train Window

What if all public transit windows were engineered with interactive functionality and touchscreens made to entertain and inform you and other passengers on any whim?

Well, Japanese creative group Salad takes that fantasy and manifests it into a reality introducing their latest project, “Touch the Train Window,” featuring an interactive train ride using Microsoft Kinect, GPS tracking and projector, iPhone, and openFrameworks.

The project is currently testing in Japan, giving Japanese commuters the luxury to entertain themselves as they commute with transit animations that magically appear on the existing backdrop in real-time with a simple touch of the finger. The animations are limited at the moment; however, they still render high quality — yet minimalist — hot air balloons, birds, human silhouettes to just name a few. Check them out below, maximize the video, and let us know what you think in the comments box.
