Mother’s Day is around the corner! Indulge your mother with a fabulous afternoon tea experience this Mother’s Day. Here are the top three places in Toronto to have a fancy afternoon tea!
1. The Library Bar at the Fairmont Royal York
Tea in the Library Bar is a very elegant affair. Leather backed chairs and dark wooden decor give the room a certain je ne sais quoi. Your tea starts off with a warm crumpet drizzled in honey from the Fairmonts own beehives. The Traditional Afternoon Tea ($35) includes loose leaf tea, finger sandwiches,a selection of mouthwatering pastries. Scones are also served, and are kept warm in a large tin serving dish known as “The Turtle.” Tea is served on Saturday & Sunday: 12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
2. The Tea Room at the Windsor Arms Hotel
The Windsor Arms Hotel is located in trendy Yorkville and has two tea rooms. One is a french style lobby, and the other is a plush, velvet room decorated in purples, perfect for royalty. Choose between a light Traditional Afternoon Tea, or a Twilight Tea for slightly heavier fare. The traditional tea includes fresh scones with Devon cream, fancy rolled sandwiches, Petits Fours and sparkling raspberry sorbet. You can also opt for Gluten Free tea with 24 hr notice.
3. MoRoCo Chocolat
This is the the most fashionable venues to have tea at in the city. They have many teas to choose from. For the Champagne Tea ($43) you can choose to have loose leaf tea or rich sipping chocolate. Your glass of champagne comes with finger sandwiches, fresh baked scones and some of the best selection of desserts that I’ve had in an afternoon tea. In addition to afternoon tea, there is a chocolate shop attached to the restaurant where you can purchase truffles and their famous macaroons.
