New York City is known as being the Sin City of the East Coast and one of its most seductive spots is a bar that I am sure you haven’t heard about.
Little Branch (20 7th Ave. S) in West Village is open on Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and is a dimly lit cocktail lounge that has developed an underground reputation for illicit encounters. It is located in the basement of a graffiti-ridden basement, and is complemented by tallow walls and low ceilings that are made from corrugated steel painted orange. While there are plenty of booths available, if you’re a serious sommelier, you’ll want to stand at the bar to watch your drink being poured. You can even ask the bartenders to make you a customized adult beverage.
In addition to naughty flirting, one of the best bar menus in town is also featured. Little Branch is the third establishment of the famed drink slinger Sasha Petraske.
Suspender-wearing bartenders concoct classic cocktails over ice that is hand chipped from blocks. Sunday nights feature live jazz performances. In terms of drink recommendations, I’d recommend the ‘Brooklyn’ (the West Branch’s unique taken on the Manhattan but with an Italian liquor twist).
While Little Branch doesn’t have an official website, you don’t really need one. Take my word for it, this is place you just might make your new watering hole.
