Cheese-lovers, this event may bring you closer to cheese heaven.

The Great Canadian Cheese Festival takes place June 1-2 at the Picton Fairgrounds’ Crystal Palace (375 Main Street East, Picton ON) in the Bay of Quinte Region, just south of Belleville.

Cheesemakers from across the country will showcase the best of their dairy delights. From Newfoundland to B.C., cheeses are made from cow, goat, sheep and even water-buffalo milk.

The Festival includes an Artisan Cheese & Fine Food Fair, cooking classes, a local cheese tour in the Bay of Quinte, and of course wine, craft beer and cheese tastings.

This is the third year for the event, and with about 125 different kinds of Canadian cheeses to sample and purchase, and more than 100 participating vendors, organizers say this is the biggest cheese show in the country.

To make it easier to get there, The Savvy Company has a shuttle bus from Ottawa.

There is a shuttle from Toronto also, via The Culinary Adventure Company.
