The Beverly Hills Hotel and Bungalows (9641 Sunset Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA), also known as the Pink Palace, is arguably Los Angeles‘ most glamorous hotel. With rooms starting at $800 per night, not exactly budget friendly but breakfast in the Fountain Coffee Room is an affordable way to visit this historic and beautiful hotel. With just seating for approximately 19 at the counter, what it lacks in size it makes up for in first class service.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, remembering that this was the very counter that Marilyn Monroe used to sip milkshakes at and where their manager signed Guns ‘n’ Roses. John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Howard Hughes and Desi Arnaz have also hung out here.
Be sure to take a discrete wander around the public areas of the hotel on the same level as the coffee shop like the gift shop, take a peek at the pool that Katherine Hepburn used to jump in fully clothed in her tennis outfit and that Fred Astaire enjoyed reading showbiz newspapers by. Just around the side from the coffee shop near the entrance to the gym is a great photographic display of sporting occasions at the hotel.
It’s not cheap but it’s not horrific either, two eggs any style plus coffee and tip should set you back about $20 each. Check the website for prices.
Parking is $8 with validation. Alternatively find street parking off Sunset and walk up. Whether you plump for parking or not, you will start your day off right with breakfast at the Beverly Hills hotel.
