Eastern European Folk Festival Lights Up Chicago This Weekend

on March 20, 2013

The 48th Annual Eastern European Folk Festival is one of the largest European music festivals in the United States, showcasing the music, dance, and culture of the Balkans and Eastern Europe.

The festival begins at 8pm on March 22 with a mini dance worksop with 5 masters teachers followed by dance party with Chris Bajmakovich and Orchestra Balkana and continues through March 23 and 24 at the International House, Assembly Hall (1414 E. 59th St., Chicago IL).

Attendees will enjoy performances of music and dance and there’s even the opportunity to try your hand, I mean feet, on the dance floor yourself. In addition, you can also sample some of the mouth-watering delicacies from these areas as well, prepared by expert Balkan chefs.

Sunday also features a post-festival dinner and party.

The Festival is open Friday from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
