Blue Mountain is perhaps best known for skiing, as its name suggests. But this resort can be the perfect spring or summer getaway too.
Located just off Highway 26 in Collingwood, Ontario, less than two hours from Toronto, Blue Mountain is a refuge that can let you get away from the city and experience some rural adventures with a touch of class.
There’s plenty here for families and couples, so why not plan out a full Weekendtrip? Arrive Friday night and enjoy a scrumptious dinner at the Pottery Restaurant. You can check out the full menu here. After some dessert, let’s keep the indulgence going with one of two spa experiences. Get pampered into peacefulness so you have plenty of energy for Saturday.
Retiring for the evening, you can lay your head in an old Snowbridge Mountain Home, a slope-side condo, an array of suites, or perhaps you just want to keep it simple and stay at the resort’s inn. Click here for all your options — there are a tonne!
After a nourishing breakfast, let’s head out and try the open-air gondola rides. It’s a beautifully scenic way to see the surrounding area, and a perfect chance to sneak a kiss and some photos.
Coming down? Let’s head back up 50 feet above the forest floor and try the Timber Challenge Ropes, which put you out over the Niagara Escarpment on a series of bridges, ladders, zip lines and cargo nets. Ok, now I’m getting excited! In case you’re not, Blue Mountain has some lower ropes as well, so don’t fret.
Tired? Why not check out an off-road Segway ride? If relaxation is more to your liking, you can hit the beach or Blue Mountain’s rocking aquatic centre, complete with slides, swings, hot tubs and more.
Sunday starts with a round of golf or tennis, whichever you prefer. In terms of golf, Blue Mountain offers Monterra, 6,500-plus yards of links-style golfing glory designed by Thomas McBroom in 1989. There’s a mini-putt course as well.
If golf or tennis isn’t your thing, Blue Mountain also has a quality mountain biking option that welcomes a number of expansions and upgrades for the 2013 season. They have some intense downhill trails that require accreditation.
In addition to all of Blue Mountain’s regular offerings, the resort is always willing to get involved with special events to make your stay that much more interesting. Here are just a few events for the 2013 season.
