Monster Jam's Northern Nightmare Truck

There is nothing more fun than seeing enormous trucks crush small cars, and if you’re ready to have more fun with your family than you have ever had before, the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour returns to Toronto next weekend.

Taking place at the Rogers Centre (which used to be the Skydome), (1 Blue Jays Way, Toronto ON) on January 19 and 20, Monster Jam is a freestyle and racing competition between the largest automotive machines in the world. Monster trucks are 12 feet tall by 12 feet wide and sit on top of 66-inch tall tires. Each truck weighs an incredible 10,000 pounds and they generate approximately 2000 horsepower each while traveling at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Really though, Monster trucks are best known for being able to fly across 130 feet (greater than 14 cars that are lined up side-by-side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

There is a Canadian connection to the sport as well. Calgary’s Cam McQueen drives the Northern Nightmare truck (2012 World Finals Freestyle Champion) that will be featured next weekend. Other fan-favorites who will be at the Toronto tour stop include Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Metal Mulisha, Bounty Hunter, Avenger, Rap Attack, Max D, Wrecking Crew, Aftershock, Krazy Train, Bat Man and Scarlet Bandit.

The Rogers Centre Monster Jam shows run Saturday January 19 at 7 p.m. and Sunday January 20 at 2 p.m. The tour will also make stops in Albany, NY (January 18-19), Uniondale, NY (January 25-26), Rockford, Il (February 1-2), Peoria, Il (February 1-2), Rosemont, Il (February 8-10), London, ON (February 16-17), Saginaw, MI (February 22-23), Syracuse, NY (March 9), Grand Rapids, MI (March 15-17), Hamilton, ON (April 6-7).
