Looking for something fun and a little bit different to do this weekend in Chicago? Head to Tommy Gun’s Garage for an evening of fun… and food!

Described as the longest-running interactive dinner show in the city, Tommy Gun’s Garage (2114 S. Wabash, Chicago IL) takes you back in time to the roaring twenties – and into the belly of the Chicago underworld. Learn about one of the darker chapters in Chicago’s history, while also enjoying a great meal.

Established in 1987 and running continuously since then, Tommy Gun’s describes the stories of Al Capone and the mafia during the prohibition era. First, dinner is served – then the establishment transforms to one where you may have to hide your alcohol as is raided by the cops, or where you may be asked to perform a sobriety test on stage.

The show is entertaining, which might make you wonder if the food is just as good. Back in when the venue first opened it had over 100 items on the menu. It has since trimmed down, and those that remain tend to get very good reviews. Try the lasagna or the pork chops… both are guest favorites.

Adding to the atmosphere, the gangsters and molls in the show will not only entertain you – they are also your servers. That’s a big part of what makes this venue so entertaining, one moment you are joking around with your server – the next they are on stage.

Tommy Gun’s Garage runs Wednesday to Sunday (there is only one show each day), and prices range between $60-$70 per person (that includes your meal and the show). Is it kitschy? Maybe. Is it fun? YES!
