While everyone has heard about the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, there is another baseball shrine in upstate New York that isn’t as well-known but is certainly just as fantastic.
Tucked into Coca-Cola Field (275 Washington St., Buffalo NY), the home of the Buffalo Bisons (the AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays), the Bisons Hall of Fame hosts a long and distinguished baseball history that goes all the way back to 1877.
The team originally played games at War Memorial Stadium (which movie fans will remember as being the location of Robert Redford’s The Natural).
In addition to the omnipresent history that is located at the Bisons Hall of Fame, there are a surprising roster of players who started out on the team. These include Warren Spahn, Johnny Bench, and Ferguson Jenkins.
If you visit the location, make sure to talk to the knowledgeable guide who is stationed there who can provide a lot of background information about what you can find inside and about the team in general.
