It’s great to be Canadian and the only thing more Canadian than camping in Algonquin Park is winter camping in Valens Lake.

Valens Lake (1691 Regional Road 97 R.R. #6, Flamborough ON) offers an excellent winter camping experience with its gorgeous pine and spruce forests. Options are readily available for both tenters and RV users, making it the perfect cold camping destination.

There are hydro hook-ups as well as heated washrooms and showers, so while it might not necessarily be “roughing it” like you would in the summer, you don’t need to feel guilty about taking advantage of some of the creature comforts in the snow.

Depending on weather conditions, there are plenty of activities to keep your weekend nature-filled and worry-free. You can enjoy ice skating as well as 10 kilometers of groomed trails which make for the ideal cross-country and winter skiing locations.

Valens plans on announcing an ice fishing derby date soon and you can also stay tuned for details about a Family Day Weekend Campout.

The winter program has opened and runs until April. Reservations are only accepted by phone and perspective campers must have a HCA (Hamilton Conservation Authority) membership pass. The membership pass costs $99.95 if you are a new member and 20 nights of camping run for $680.00 with the pass holder rate being $34 per night.
